About Two Months Now, Women Have Been Reportedly Killed in Hotels in Port Harcourt in the Same Manner.

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected persons in line with the recent killing of women in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The report was confirmed by the State Commissioner of Police Mustapha Dandaura who told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

One of the actual suspect has been traced to Kaduna State and he is currently in the police custody, the Rivers State Police commissioner said.

The other one was arrested in Port Harcourt where he was trying to lure any girl to a hotel for 30,000 naira. Dandaura added.

He said, “So far, we have made substantial progress in the investigation of these killings. In one of the cases, the actual murder suspect has been arrested and he is making useful confessions. He would have been paraded on Tuesday, but we are still working on some clues given by him that may aid our investigation.

“Regrettably, it has come to my notice that some hotels have yet to comply with my directive on CCTV camera, hence my order to arrest the managers, receptionists and desk officers in two hotels, where two separate murders were recorded.

“They will be investigated and if found culpable, charged with culpable homicide. Today, I want to reinforce our commitment to tackling the menace and assure you that we have come to the end of this monstrous act by desperate cultists and ritualists.” He added.

The commissioner of Police in Rivers State also express total disappointment at the slow response by hotel owners in installing Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) in their various hotels to help track wanted persons.

Dandaura expressed shock for the delay, adding that that eight women has been killed with two months and all of them and all of them were killed the manner with white cloth of their neck, waist and legs. saying this kind of act should be treated with urgency to help stop the killings.

Dandaura listed strict compliance with check-in and check-out procedures, saying the hotels managements shoulf go through the confirmation of guests’ phone numbers, identity cards and the registration of visitors by hotel managers as other measures to tackle the problem.

He also cautioned them to trained their staff on security tips and must submit guests’ reports to the Police Intelligence Bureau at the end of every week.

The Police Commissioner also cautioned young women to shun prostitution, that it is not the only way to fast money for daily upkeep. He also called on hotels to stop short-time services at least for now.

It could be recalled that, Port Harcourt women had come together to protest against the the recent killing of women in Port Harcourt, calling on security operatives and hotel managements to protect lives of every woman.
