“I didn’t fight with Akpabio before redeployment to labour ministry” – Keyamo

 

Festus Keyamo, the just appointed minister of labour for states, told Pulse in an exclusive interview that he had a cordial relationship with his Snr Minister, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, whom they worked together in the ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

Contrary to the earlier speculations, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said they both enjoyed cordiality in all realms of life before he was moved to the ministry of labour of work with Sen. Chris Ngige.

Keyamo, who was heading the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs portfolio from August 21, 2019, after President Muhammadu Buhari inaugurated his cabinet of 43 ministers, made the switch to the labour ministry on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

In a letter addressed to Keyamo and signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, writes “I write to convey the approval of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for your redeployment from the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, as Minister of State with effect from Tuesday, 24th September, 2019.

“Please accept the assurances of my warm regard.”


In response to the new appointment, Keyamo said, “On the move again. Two portfolios in two months. Just been redeployed to the Ministry of Labour and Employment to work with my long-time big brother, H.E, Chris Ngige. Thank you, Mr. President for finding me versatile enough to move around. Always ready to serve in any capacity.”


Festus Keyamo responding to Pulse in a mid-night chat on enduring a frosty relationship with Sen Godswill Akpabio before his redeployment to the labour ministry, He said, “Big Lie, the reports were a figment of the imagination of the platforms.

The 49 year-old minister has been seen in several photos sharing happy moments with Senator Akpabio, thus both had a cordial relationship in the ministry they both ran.
