Covid-19 information reaching us from Nigeria’s Presidency has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari is not wearing face mask.
The Presidency explained that Pres. Buhari is not violating any rules concerning covid-19 by not wearing his face mask.
According to the information, the President is in a safe place and he is not infected with coronavirus, his docile (Aso Rock) is not infected so needless of wearing face mask,
They further said that, only visitors, visiting the President are to wear face masks.
The statement was made on Saturday, May 16 by Lauretta Onochia, Buhari’s aide on social media in a singular tweet.
Onichia’s statement was in response to the growing debate on social media protesting pictures of the Nigerian leader without face masks participating in government activities, often in the company of other public officials who are masked.
Earlier in the month of May, 2020, the President had imposed a 10 hours curfew in Nigeria stating rules and guidelines for the citizens to abide to avoid the spread of coronavirus during working hours.
One of the rules an guidelines in a document signed by the secretary-general of the federation, Boss Mustapha, said “Nigerians should always wear face masks in public places.“
The compulsory wear of face mask was as a result of the President relaxing lockdown caused by the outbreak of coronavirus.
